Why it’s ordered

When symptoms suggest GPA, MPA or EGPA, such as sinus disease with kidney or lung problems.

Understanding results

PR3-ANCA is typical of GPA and MPO-ANCA of MPA. A positive result supports, but doesn’t prove, vasculitis. Biopsy often confirms it.

Good to know

Some medicines and infections can cause positive ANCA.
