Lupus and Pregnancy
With good disease control and close monitoring, most people with lupus have successful pregnancies.

Why it matters
Lupus raises the risk of preeclampsia, preterm birth and flares. Certain antibodies (antiphospholipid, SSA/Ro) need extra precautions.
What you can do
Aim for six months of quiet disease before conceiving. Continue hydroxychloroquine. Low-dose aspirin from early pregnancy lowers preeclampsia risk. If you are SSA/Ro positive, your baby’s heart rhythm is monitored.
Call your care team if
You notice swelling, severe headache, vision changes, reduced fetal movement or signs of a flare.
